The ABS Vario 15 Zip-On adds 15 liters of storage to your ABS Vario Base Unit, making it the second-smallest option in the Vario line. This Vario Zip-On is ideal for resort use, gate-accessed terrain, and short backcountry day tours. A step up from the svelte Ultralight 8, the Vario 15 adds more than just cubic inches, giving you crucial features as well as space for an extra layer, lunch and climbing skins. On the outside, ABS's new and improved diagonal ski carry system improves weight distribution for bootpacking, while daisy chain loops allow you to strap on additional hardware like ice axes or collapsible poles. On the inside, a dedicated hydration sleeve and two accessory pockets keep water and small items separate from the main compartment, and removable compression straps allow you to cinch the load down for stability. Perhaps most importantly, the Vario 15 includes a separate and dedicated emergency pocket for your probe and shovel, making snow tool access fast and intuitive in the event of a rescue situation. Make no mistake: this will not turn your Vario Base Unit into a full-sized touring pack, but at the expense of leaving the kitchen sink behind, the ABS Vario 15 Zip-On offers a sleek option for backcountry trips that require less gear.
